Making a Victorian Fashion Statement!

Victorian fashion which includes Victorian dresses, hats, shoes, jewelry and other fashion accessories are not for everyday wear. But, there are certainly times when they are needed. What is Victorian fashion, some might ask? It is clothing and accessories from the Victorian era which is during the reign of Queen Victoria of England. That time period was between 1837 and 1901. In simpler words, it is old, antique, vintage clothes and accessories that are classy and glamorous.

If you have seen portraits of Queen Victoria, then you will know what her dresses, shoes, jewelry, and accessories look like. Victorian fashion is pretty unique and reflects fashion and arts trends in British culture. There are also many movies about Queen Victoria so most people are somewhat familiar with the Victorian fashion.

Many people like to dress up in Victorian costumes to go to costume parties. There are also plays that require you to wear costumes from that era. Sometimes, you can get away with just wearing a Victorian dress especially if the dress is long enough to cover up your feet and with long sleeves. But, you probably will need some types of Victorian jewelry such as a Victorian necklace, bracelet, earrings or a Victorian hair piece to go with the dress. Needless to say, Victorian dresses are not for everyday wear, unless your job is to look like someone from that time period, of course.
